Reddit and Newzoo Agree to a First-of-a-Kind Data Partnership

In a first of its kind data partnership, Newzoo and Reddit have teamed up to provide the gaming and esports communities with better insights and actionable advice.

Reddit Signs First Data Partnership with Newzoo

Newzoo, a data analytics company focused on esports and video gaming, has tied-up a pivotal partnership with social media and forum network Reddit. The partnership was announced on Thursday, April 30, and it will allow Newzoo to tap into one of the biggest troves of esports/gaming information in the world.

With its 430 million monthly users, Reddit is a perfect additional source of data scraping for Newzoo, which has been delivering comprehensive analyses about the outlook of the esports industry. Many of the community on the social media are focused on some of the pivotal competitive games today. They include:

  • League of Legends
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Overwatch
  • Call of Duty
  • Rocket League
  • Dota 2

Other sub-Reddits, as the forum categories are called, cover smaller, but equally important games, such as Honor of Kings/Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Magic: The Gathering, and not least Apex Legends and Valorant.

We can already see some interesting insights from the partnership. Newzoo has tweeted about the most-talked games on Reddit, offering quick and interesting insight.

Executives Happy with the Developments

Commenting on the latest tie-up, Alex Riccomini, Senior Director of Business Development at Reddit, had this to say:

“Gaming communities on Reddit are incredibly engaged, and we believe that partnering with Newzoo will empower those in the games market to access critical community insights.”

While this constitutes Reddit’s first data partnership, the choice of company to sign up with couldn’t have been better. Newzoo has consistently delivered well-researched insights that have helped guide investors and esports start-ups.

Newzoo co-founder and CEO Peter Warman expressed his own satisfaction with the developments.

“Tracking game IP popularity across traditional social platforms is common practice in the games business. Working together with Reddit, however, we’re going beyond that, developing new insights that aren’t available anywhere else.”

The company recently expanded its monitoring services in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates, responding to growing interest for esports in the region.
